Complete Your Swallowing Exercises from Home
You can only get Mobili-T through a healthcare provider, such as a registered speech-language pathologist (S-LP).
Your S-LP will require a Premium Mobili-T account.
If you or a loved one have recently been diagnosed with dysphagia, you may benefit from using Mobili-T®.
Dysphagia (swallowing disorders) can result from many different types of diseases (e.g., Parkinson’s Disease, stroke), treatments for disease (e.g., cancer treatment, medication), and accidents (e.g., Traumatic Brain Injury).
Dysphagia can also present very differently from one person to the next. For these reasons, it is very important that you:
- Consult a swallowing specialist (usually a speech-language pathologist (S-LP))
- Obtain a diagnosis and management plan.
If your S-LP determined that you could benefit from rehabilitation exercises (or in some cases, even prehabilitation exercises), then Mobili-T can help you get the most out of your work.
How does Mobili-T® work?
Mobili-T® is an sEMG (surface electromyography) system. The sensor device sticks under your chin and detects muscle excitation during swallowing and swallowing exercises. You see this information as a line going up and down (biofeedback) on your iPhone or iPad Mobili-T® app.
Your S-LP could use Mobili-T® with you in the clinic or hospital during your sessions. You can even work with Mobili-T® independently, at home, while your S-LP remotely monitors your work.
Mobili-T® was designed in collaboration with patients with dysphagia and S-LPs.
We wanted to put ourselves in the shoes of whom it would be assisting, so Mobili-T® could truly make an impact. That’s why we sat down with patients living with dysphagia and S-LPs to really understand how we could help.
These interviews that were part of research studies are now available in our repertoire of peer-reviewed articles. We continue to conduct interviews and ask for feedback from the community as we constantly improve Mobili-T®.
What have patients using Mobili-T said?
I was literally amazed to swallow something solid for the first time in five years. It’s amazing.
If you just have to sit and swallow, it’s kind of a boring thing, whereas if you get that feedback, you’re more apt to do it.
When I started with your product, I was drinking a cup of coffee, but it took me over 5 hours to drink it without aspirating. I just drank a cup of coffee in a half hour! Also, I am now drinking two of them a day. This is a big improvement for someone like me.
Talk to your S-LP to understand whether your type of dysphagia (swallowing disorder) could be addressed with biofeedback and exercise.
If you or your clinician have any questions regarding Mobili-T, we will be happy to assist you.
Our website is rich in blog posts aimed at patients and caregivers. We encourage you to learn and lean on the experiences of others living well with dysphagia, check out some new recipes and ideas to spice up dysphagia diets, and learn how you can build support networks and ask for help.
